Brian Lautenslager

MPJ, Staff Sergeant, USMC

Staff Sergeant Brian Lautenslager is a native of Carrollton, Texas and a graduate from The Colony High School in 2001. Lautenslager enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 2003, and reported for training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, Calif. Following recruit training, Lautenslager reported to Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C. in Nov. 2003 for training as a helicopter mechanic.

In Feb. 2004, Lautenslager reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39, Camp Pendleton, Calif., as a helicopter mechanic. In April 2006, Lautenslager deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), and again in 2007 with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

In September 2008, Lautenslager re-enlisted as a combat photographer, and reported to the Defense Information School at Fort George G. Meade, Md. for training in March 2009.

Following graduation, Lautenslager reported to the First Marine Logistics Group in Camp Pendleton, Calif. While at the 1st MLG, Lautenslager deployed as a combat camera chief to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Lautenslager’s awards and decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) medal.

Following graduation, Lautenslager will report to Combat Camera Management in Quantico, Va.
